Why We’ve Switched to FedEx DDP (via SWAP)

Why We’ve Switched to FedEx DDP (via SWAP)

We know shipping fees and customs charges can be frustrating — we feel the same way. That’s why we wanted to explain what’s changed and what we’re doing to make things easier for you.

What Changed

Recently, both the U.S. and EU tightened their import rules:

United States: Until August 2025, most orders under $800 could enter the U.S. without any customs duty. The U.S. government has now removed that exemption, meaning all imports — no matter how small — are subject to duties and processing fees.

European Union: Since Brexit, every shipment from the UK to the EU has needed customs paperwork, and most attract VAT or duties. The EU now requires VAT to be paid on all goods, even low-value ones.

In simple terms: this is a government decision, not ours — and every business shipping into the U.S. or EU is affected.

Where the Money Goes

These are not our fees. They go to:

Customs authorities (U.S. CBP, EU Customs): for duties, taxes, and processing fees.

Shipping carriers (FedEx, UPS, etc.): for clearing the package through customs on your behalf.

What We’re Doing About It

The good news is we now ship Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) using SWAP's FedEx service.

That means:

- All duties, taxes, and fees are calculated upfront at checkout.

- We handle the customs process for you — no forms, no delays

- You won’t get surprise bills when your package arrives.

- What you see at checkout is the final price you pay.

Why Your Checkout Total Might Look Different

Because customs duties and fees are now required on every international order, the checkout total now includes these charges. We’ve chosen to keep things transparent so there are no hidden costs and no nasty surprises later.

Our Promise

We know these changes aren’t ideal — and we’re sorry they add extra cost. Unfortunately, it’s not something we control, but we’ve made the switch to FedEx DDP so we can make international shipping as smooth, fast, and worry-free as possible.

We’ll keep working to find the most affordable and reliable options so you continue to get the best value for your orders.
